Get to Know About Me
I was born in Silistra, but I live and work in Sofia. I am a textile artist with many years of experience in textile art and teaching. I graduated from the National Academy of Arts - Sofia, with a specialty in "Textiles" under the guidance of Prof. Vasil Ovcharov and Prof. Anna Boyadzhieva, earning a PhD degree.
During my Master's degree, I became an assistant to Prof. Vasil Ovcharov at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" - Sofia. Varna /2003/, in the "Textile" specialty, where I taught classes in Composition, History of Textiles, Weaving Techniques, etc
After enrolling in a full-time doctoral program, I began working as an assistant in the studio of Prof. Anna Boyadzhieva at the National Academy of Arts - Sofia, where I participated in the training of students and supported the successful completion of their annual and diploma projects.
My creative explorations are directed towards traditional weaving practices and their integration into contemporary artistic textiles and design. I study the development processes of the horizontal loom and weaving practices, from their origin to the present day. I seek answers to the question of how these processes have influenced modern textile production and the modern weaving craft. As a result of this research, I defended my dissertation on "Fabric in Textile Design" / 2013/.
Other artistic practices that are a subject of interest and achievements for me are felt, manipulated fabrics and reserves, dyeing with natural materials, and free embroidery. My works have been presented in numerous exhibitions in Bulgaria, France, Finland, Poland, the USA, and other countries.
In recent years, my creative explorations have been in the context of the topic from my Master's thesis in 2003 - "Manipulated Textiles". I am fascinated by natural dyes, natural materials, and seek inspiration from the masterpieces of Bulgarian folk embroidery, and more specifically from the perfection of hand-painted embroidery. As a result of these studies and contemporary dyeing practices such as eco-printing, I achieve a unique combination of expressive means with which I create my "NATURAL PAINTINGS".
